2022 Camp Read Staff Appreciation and Annual Dinner

Attendees of the Dinner.png

On Saturday evening, March 26, 2022, the Camp Read Association held its annual dinner at the Church of the Holy Communion in Mahopac. This year, the dinner was combined with our annual Staff Appreciation Dinner which was cancelled in December due to COVID.

There were approximately 60 attendees, with about two-thirds of them being current staff members. Association members present included individuals who had attended or worked at Camp Read at some point over the past sixty years!

Highlights of the evening included recognition of several 2021 staff members who were honored for their outstanding performance last summer. They are:

Camp Buckskin Outstanding Staff Member: Daniel Murray

Camp Waubeeka Outstanding Staff Member: Colin Wanderman

Outstanding Camp Manager: Matt Taylor

Outstanding Staff Member for the Reservation: Shannon Lamont

Daniel was present for this recognition. While Colin, Matt and Shannon were not present, the Association would like to extend congratulations to all for a job well done!

Also, the Camp Read Association Thomas Dietz Service Award was presented to Bill Langham for his work as Membership Chairman and excellent compilation of Camp Read stories on the Association website. Another recipient was Simon Riker, who unfortunately could not be present at the dinner. Simon is recognized for his outstanding work on the Association website. The Association extends its deepest appreciation to these two individuals for their exceptional contributions to preserving memories of Camp Read.

The Camp Read Association is pleased to host this annual dinner. Camp Read has a special place in all of our hearts, and it is the lifelong friendships that keep us connected to this beautiful place.
