The Award
The CRA Service Award is presented to those who have given Outstanding Service to the Camp Read Association. Candidates are nominated and selected by Past Recipients of the Award.
Benchmark
All prior recipients serve as the standard for deserving the award. However, there is one individual who stands out for continually providing outstanding service to the Camp Read Association, Great Hudson Valley Council, and the BSA. That person is our current President, Bill Daley, who has led our organization for the past 12 years and continues to provide an exemplary model and quality leadership! Many thanks to Bill for his dedication and service.

This year's Awardee
Michael J. McCabe is a former Camp Read Camper and Staff Member, and Eagle Scout. He returned to Camp Read in 2019 for the 100th Anniversary Reunion and immediately joined in to help with the Check-in. Shortly thereafter, Mike joined the Association and within a year was asked to take over the Treasurer duties because of his Financial Services experience and expertise.
Since then, he has worked diligently with the CRA President to maintain a positive working relationship with the Greater Hudson Valley Council and Camp Read, and the CRA Contributions Committee, where he spearheaded fundraising for and managed the Fishing Docks project. Mike also assisted the Committee with the Terribile First Year Camper Pavilion in Camp Waubeeka.
He is presently working on fundraising to replace Porcupine Lodge on the far side of Rogers Lake in Buckskin. This pavilion will be used for Camper training, education, and shelter for the fishing dock users. Mike has recruited a Fly-Fishing expert from Colorado (Reid Reynolds – Camp Read Staff Member from the 1950's) to help expand the Fishing Program at Camp.
He continues to serve as a key contributor to our Board of Directors for the good of Camp Read and the programs it provides to the youth of America.
Congratulations to Mike on his outstanding work and continued support!
